Stu Hartenstein is currently in his sixth year as an assistant men's basketball coach at Denison University in 2019-20.
Hartenstein serves as the Big Red's defensive coordinator in addition to video editing, opponent scouting, practice planning, and recruiting duties. Since joining the Denison Coaching Staff, Hartenstein has helped the Big Red finish as a conference tournament semifinalist in four of his five seasons, undergoing three of their most successful seasons in program history from 2015-2018. In 2016, DU captured their first NCAC Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time. In 2017, the Big Red won 22 games and were nationally ranked for eleven weeks of the season, climbing as high as #9, and finishing in the Top 25 at the conclusion of the season. The 2017-18 season saw continued success on the court, as Denison began the season 6-1 with two wins over the d3hoops.com Top 25 and finished in fifth place in the NCAC.
Hartenstein graduated from Wittenberg University with degrees in history and education.
